Will 2013 be the season where we see the emergence of new young studs as important keeper league components?
Aaron Hicks vs. Leonys Martin
Hicks has a better walk rate at this point. That gives him a slight edge in terms of OB unit potential. Martin strikes out less than Hicks. That makes him a safer choice to hit for a better average. Martin should have more singles. Hicks has more walks. The overall effect for total OB is about the same.
There is not a clear case for one over the other at this point other than to
wait and see if one of them can "stick" in the majors and provide results
conducive to good Strat cards.
Segura will never hit for power or big TB units. He does have better walk
skills and gap ability compared to Iglesias. What Segura needs for a solid
keeper league status will come in the form of a good batting average that
runs 20 to 30 points higher than league average as well as the SS-2.
He could end up as a top ten player in a set should that happen. |
